2015: A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

Forum Logo

Directed by Hetty Thomae with musical direction by Hal Sheeler and choreography by Susan Lamontagne, this fast-paced, irreverent farce from Stephen Sondheim takes comedy back to its roots, combining the comedies of Roman playwright Plautus with the infectious energy of classic vaudeville.

Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia for his young master, Hero, in exchange for his freedom. The plot twists and turns with mistaken identities, slamming doors, scheming neighbors, and desperate lovers.

This joyous romp through Rome allows a terrific ensemble of Upper Valley actors to shine–“something for everyone, a comedy tonight!”
